Bottom line

A Model 3 has less routine service than an ICE car. It is not maintenance-free.

For my 2022 Model 3 Performance, I separate maintenance into three buckets:

  1. Tesla-specified recurring items with a published interval or condition;
  2. normal wear/safety inspections that depend on mileage, environment, and symptoms;
  3. fluids/components Tesla does not schedule for routine replacement, which I inspect rather than inventing an internet interval.

That last category matters. “Lifetime” and “replace every X miles because cars need fluids” are both too simplistic.

Maintenance matrix

Intervals below were checked against Tesla's current maintenance guidance on September 9, 2026. Follow the vehicle's current manual and service alerts if they differ.

Tesla's sparse schedule is not permission to ignore mechanical wear. It means the car should be managed with scheduled consumables + condition-based inspection, not by importing an ICE maintenance menu that does not apply.

Around the mileage of my own 2022 Model 3 Performance, a low-cost professional inspection has better ROI than randomly replacing fluids.

I would ask for:
